Assistant Acting Head for pastoral care - Mr J. Taylor
At Ark Chamberlain we want to create an outstanding climate for learning. It is important that our pupils feel happy, supported and cared for in order to achieve their full potential. We believe that our pastoral team provides to support and guidance that pupils need.
Our pastoral team is made up of Mr Pinnock and Mrs Hussain our parent support workers, Mrs Hayre and Mr Jamal our learning mentors and Mrs Bailey our special educational needs co-ordinator. I oversee the areas of parent support, attendance, behaviour, mentoring and safeguarding.
Mrs Hayre and Mr Jamal are our learning mentors.
Their role is to give advice, support and counsel children who have barriers to learning and to support families if the need be.
Barriers to learning could include:
- A child feeling anxious/worried;
- A child who has low esteem;
- A child who has behaviour concerns;
- A child who is going through a family crisis such as a death in the family.

Mrs Hussain and Mr Pinnock are our parent support workers.
Their role is to give advice and support children and their families.
They support families in a range of areas:
- Newly arrived children;
- Attendance and punctuality;
- Parent workshops;
- Child protection.
